A Tour on the Oklahoma Prairies in the 21st Century

The Tour contains detailed descriptions by four journalists who took a Tour in Oklahoma in October and November of 1832. Washington Irving, the first man of American letters, was the creator of the Headless Horseman and Rip Van Winkle. Henry Leavitt Ellsworth, full of rectitude and righteousness, was Commissioner to the Indians and was posted at Fort Gibson. Count Albert Alexander de Pourtalès was an excitable and charming teenager from a noble family, in the American west for adventure. Charles Joseph Latrobe, an excellent man in every way, was in Oklahoma as a companion and mentor to the teenager.
